Since the operating system does so much to make a computer function, it can be hard at times to find a place to start to understand what it is and what it does. Operating system seem to have limitless boundaries and little sense of immediate purpose. Applications have boundaries and a sense of purpose. Unlike an application, like a word processor, the operating system is very unfocused with regards as what to do with it. The operating system does everything and does nothing.
